Restoration of the stairwell, the staircase and the entrance hall

As part of a project for the architectural and historical reconstruction of Leonardo da Vinci’s house, the Château du Clos Lucé is carrying out the restoration of the stairwell, the staircase and the entrance hall.

The restoration work requires the intervention of carpenters, cabinetmakers, stone carvers, master stained-glass windows makers, iron craftsmen, fresco restorers and set designers under the direction of Arnaud de Saint Jouan, Architect- in-Chef of Historic Monuments.

The castle is open to the public with the exception of the first floor.
Works will be carried out from 21 october 2013 to 1st may 2014.
From  October 23rd 2013 to may 1st 2014: free access to the exhibition "Leonardo da Vinci and France".

One hour from Paris by the TGV fast train or two hours away by car, the Château du Clos Lucé is located in the middle of the town of Amboise, 400 metres from the Royal Château. Here you can enjoy an unforgettable encounter with Leonardo da Vinci, at the heart of his life and work.

- By train

  • Paris Montparnasse > St Pierre des Corps in 55 minutes by TGV fast train (the station is 20km from Amboise, connection possible by local train or by road)
  • Paris Austerlitz > Amboise direct in 2 hours (Amboise station is 2km from Le Clos Lucé)

All year: a bus service provides connections between the station and Amboise town centre

The Château du Clos Lucé is located 300 metres on foot from the town centre.

Free parking for coaches and cars in the Rue du Clos Lucé, 200m on foot from the visitors’ entrance.

Opening hours

The Château du Clos Lucé – Parc Leonardo da Vinci is open all the year round, every day without interruption (except 25th December and 1st January). The countryside display is available in its entirety throughout high season (from  15th March 2013 to 30th November 2013).

January: 10.00am to 6.00pm
February-June: 9.00am to 7.00pm
July- August: 9.00am to 8.00pm
September-October: 9.00am to 7.00pm
November-December: 9.00am to 6.00pm
On December 24th, the ticket office will exceptionally close at 4.30 p.m
Ticket office closes one hour before site closes.

  • Reduced price: unwaged, large families (3 children or more)

  • Group price: minimum 20 adults or 15 children
